I used to be the content editor for a website called the Playground. It was the brainchild of writers Lily James and Susannah Breslin, and by the end of its 4 year lifespan we were racking up 100,000 hits by unique users every month. It featured a monthly magazine and a weekly feature article. By far the most popular feature was a daily column called The Dirt. Lily James or I would post a brief, extemporaneous essay every day --- a sort of precursor to Blogging. These are a few of my favorites:
