A SEASON OF FIRE & blah, blah, blah

And then ….

BETWEEN, GEORGIA by Joshilyn Jackson (Warner $22.99). This is a southern gothic thriller cleverly disguised as a comedy about rival families in a tiny southern town. This is a summer reader with an edge. (Jackson's GODS IN ALABAMA won "Book of the Year" from the Southeastern Independents Booksellers Association.)-- Elizabeth

You’re so pretty Joshilyn! I think you should send chocolate to Elizabeth, the reviewer, and Nancy the owner of QRB!

(ps: apologies to those other authors, I’m sure their work is great – it’s just in my universe you eclipse them!)

I'm 65 pages into gods because I had to put it down to get blood drawn and faint... but when I came too and I was eating crackers and drinking juice, I made them hand me my book again. Oh my goodness girl.

In her bra. That's funny. Well, not so much for her. But for you? Yeah, that's funny.
And I broke my pact with myself and bought both of your books today, even though I'm technically totally out of book-money until Friday. I just couldn't wait. I'm reading BG right now, and totally lovin it. And I'm reading it at home, as opposed to the book store. See, here, at my house, nobody looks at my funny when I snort the coffee stuff. And my screen is totally used to it. So it my puppy. See, it's all good! Now let me get back to, YOUR, book. No. wait. it IS mine now, right? I mean, you've got a new one in your head, so this one belongs to us now, correct?
See? I DO pay attention to your blogs!

Okay, DUDE--page 23 now, which is not much progress since the last time I told you how far I had read of Between, because I had to watch THE GRADUATE with daughter Grace before I send her off on road trips with family for the next five weeks, because it just seemed like the right thing to do over ice cream and pizza.

AND meanwhile you are a total goddamn genius and have already made me cry with this.

AND OMG I am so glad I chose a picture of myself when I was four instead of one when I was 19 in a bra or whatever for my Blogger profile, etc, because OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!

You are so damn awesome.......

Ohhhh, it is killing me having to wait for Between, Georgia>/i> but I can, I can, I know, I can.

Poor Happy Puppy...lucky us, Dudette you are too funny. Now the title makes sooo much sense.

Oh, how funny! At least she wasn't topless, I guess... bet her other IM buddies are disappointed with you for spoiling their fun! ;)

(Wonder if she'll be less popular now?)

OMG! That is a great story.

Makes me wonder what's going to happen to all these teenage girls who put photos of themselves in bikinis on their MySpace pages in 10 years!

Posted by Edgy Mama at June 28, 2006 8:36 AM

ROFL! That would SO happen to me.

Another BG siting- my brother called from Clermont, FL last night to say it was on the FEATURES table of his "local" chain bookstore with all kinds of fanfare. I've been pestering him to read gods since I read it last year, but have been unwilling to loan him my copy (books never return from his house and after you signed it for me and everything I just can't risk it). I think I will send him a gift box with both books. Yes, then I don't have to worry about them coming back.

OMG! And that is a reason you should never put of pictures like that on the Internet.
Now that I've done my daily good deed (you know, they one I "forget"?):
BWAHAHAHAHAHAH! That is so funny!! Hee hee!! I feel sad for her though...But he he! At least she let you blog it! We should not laugh at other peoples misfortune...BUT.
That is so funny! LOL x 1000

Ok, just sitting here soaking up the delicious warmth of the Between. Finished it this morning, and I can't tell you enough how much i LOVED it. Really, really really LOVED it.
I don't even want to start gods just yet. i want to sit here and wallow in Between, sucking up all of it again, and trying to figure out how you come up with such yummy stuff.
You are brilliant!

Posted by dee at June 28, 2006 12:22 PM

Oh man. That was HILARIOUS!

IM can be evil but oh, so fun!

Yeah, that whole 'don't want to start 'gods' yet' thing??? BIG mistake.
Just finished it. I inhaled it all in one day. Didn't cook dinner. Didn't do laundry. Had little more than polite conversation with the wee ones (if you can call "Will you PLEASE be quiet, can't you see I'm reading here!" polite!). Didn't watch movies. Didn't even blog. Just sat as still as I could and let the gods take me away.
If you haven't read this book yet, I feel really sorry for you.
Again, Joshilyn, brilliant. Just brilliant!
