Comments: B4B Finalists (Followed by Repugnant Prancings)

Not googly-eyed or monstrous at all! Articulate and adorable, those are the adjectives I'd use. AND if I didn't know you I'd buy the book based on the interview. So. Yay you! ;)

I second Amy-Go! The interview as terrific, and you sold me on your new book (they nearly blow the town to pieces? Cool!). But I have to say it is disconcerting to hear your voice talking outside my head after reading your blog daily for so long. And then to have your voice accompanied by a whole body that moves! But it was fun to see you, and your preening is well-deserved.

You are ADORABLE! Thanks for posting that link to your interview! I am hoping today I will get to start reading your book...yesterday turned into a different adventure.

First of all, congrats to the B4B finalists. I see some of my favorites on there as well as some new-to-me folks. Looking forward to seeing who Shanna chooses!

And yay, Joss, for the good newses! Cool!!

I tried watching the interview, but the video portion didn't seem to want to work corectly for me. Even when I tried to play it through a second time I kept getting a series of stills instead of smooth video, but at least the sound worked so I was able to listen to it. Mostly a good interview, although I briefly wondered if you wanted to slap HF for the "where do you get your ideas?" question. :-)

I'm so excited! I got notification from that Between, Georgia SHIPPED TODAY!

I'd already ordered it SIGNED from the Alabama Booksmith... completely forgetting that as a crazed and devoted and slightly neurotic fan... I had pre-ordered it the instant it went up on

Now I have TWO!

Funny... I did the EXACT same thing with gods.

Yay! I made Finalist!

Congrats Joshilyn on all your good news too!

Angel - Thanks for the finalist vote! :)

Joss - I LOVED the interview and laughed my hind parts off when she asked where you got your ideas. They just can't help asking it, can they? I've always wanted to look someone straight in the eye and say, "Well, as a matter of fact... you." Heh.

Joshilyn -
I'm a newbie to your site and am thrilled to be in the finals of B4B! This is the first writing contest I've ever entered, though I've always wanted to! What a thrill to see my lil' ole blog listed there - thanks for putting this together. Watched your interview and loved it! I'm always secretly intimidated by authors, thinking they must just think in prose and iambic pentameter or something and that they are never "real" people who do dishes, and laundry, and bite their fingernails and such. You came across so real in your interview and I know it must be hard to watch yourself, but I did not see a google-eyed monster at all! I saw a lovely gal who loves a great story and would be fun to chat with at the local coffe shop if she lived in my home town! I'll be adding your books to my summer reading pile. :)

Great interview, Joshilyn! You are SO not spooky. You are the quintessential Southern-girl-next-door. Contrary to others, I thought it amusing that Holly asked where you get your stories. That has to be (from what I hear from published writer) THE most often asked question ever. Of course, after the first hundred times, I suppose it could get old. Still. YAY, YOU!

Oh. And HF? YUM!!

Dude, you are only spooky as in spooky-gorgeous and spooky-witty... And I love the idea of God getting a three-fer...

Ahhh! Superstar!!

You looked totally cute and held your own so well!

Also, yay for the finalists! Especially moi. May I preen beside you?

Posted by Lena at June 15, 2006 10:00 PM

Hey! I know her!

I think that was a very nice interview! Not spooky or googly eyed at all!

And really, not to sound all stalker-y but after reading you every day, seeing you on a TV interview was like seeing the next door neighbor talking to Matt Lauer or something. Very exciting!

I'm with Mel. I was looking forward to getting around to reading it before. Now I feel like I must have it on 7/3! Good pimping!

Thanks for the nod! I can't believe I am actually a finalist! There were so many good ones!

Joshilyn, thanks for putting out the interview. It was so neat to hear you speak. Now I can put a voice to your words. You were terrific and have every right to preen!

What a wonderful interview! I know everyone commented on the "where did you get your ideas" question, but I was wicked impressed with you wanting to be an "actor" instead of an "actress". As a former theatre person myself, I've always thought that an actor was a person commited to the craft of acting, whereas an "actress" was...less reputable. You don't hear "doctress" or "nurseress" or "teacheress", so why be an "actress"? But that's just me. I'm odd in many other ways as well, come to think about it...but I love both your books, so that's a point in my favor, I hope! We can't wait to start selling "Between"!

Oh my goodness, could you be more adorable???? I can't imagine anyone meeting you and not being charmed immediately :)

Congratulations on the much-deserved publicity!

Posted by Angel at June 16, 2006 12:08 AM

yay, have influence over best-selling author!

your good news is GREAT, and none of us are slotty :)

Loved the interview- think I want to be Holly Firfer btw- you came across as warm and funny and interesting. I liked it when she said 'boy or girl?', you said 'girl' and she said congratulations...could just hear you saying 'yeah, I like her...' LOL :)

I am DEAD OF LOVE!!!!!!! Oh my LORD how cute you are...How bizarre that over this past year that I have been fawning over and adoring you that I've never heard or seen you except in pictures. I think I was afraid you would not live up to the imagine in my

But you are beyond precious!!!! Your voice is lovely and you are articulate and fun and I just want to pour you a big salty rimmed margarita and sit on a beach chair with toes in the sand and talk about boys with you!

Posted by Angela at June 16, 2006 9:10 AM

Spooky, my patootie! You are just too adorable for words. GREAT interview, and if possible, it made me look forward even more to reading Between.

Posted by Aimee at June 16, 2006 10:25 AM

I couldn't get the video to work either, but I'm sure you were adorable, engaging, and articulate. In fact, you're so all of those things in my imagination that maybe I shouldn't really watch the i/v, because we don't want the "real" you to ruin my "imaginary" you.

Kidding, kidding, girl!

Congrats on all the happening buzz. I can't wait to get my hands on Between (doesn't that sound a bit naughty?).

Chiming in along with everyone else on the not spooky, adorable! chorus. I loved when you said you like a "big scoop of plot;" it sounded just!
