Comments: A Winner is You

Congrats to the winner!

Though I couldn't help but smirk at the thought of you remembering to dole out a prize EVERY Monday through June. I apologize for being so cynical! ;-D

STOP! You have to stop! You just made me wake up the whole family AND the dog!

Extra hilarious since my 12yo just sang "Crazy Train" at karaoke night last night while we all hid under the tables wondering where he got the gene for that kind of nerve.

As an aside, your nephew is right. I have firsthand experience that all 14yo boys are playing Halo. And Mercenaries 2. It's charming.

I laughed and laughed at this - I play WoW also, along with teaching college level science. One of my students came to my office to look at his grade, so I pulled up his gradebook page and spun my (personal) laptop around to show it to him. It took him awhile to get to the seeing-his-grade part, since he was so busy BOGGLING at the WoW shortcut on my start bar. Hee.

Congrats to Sandi!

Ooh! I'm Sandi! I won! I'm sorry, that was the 14 year old GIRL in me coming out. Snail mail info coming your way. And by the way, I did live in a small Midwestern town where I tried not to call attention to myself and dreamed of being a librarian. Then I grew up. Still in a Midwestern town, though with considerably less "not calling attention to myself." The librarian dream could go either way.

Of course your DK is a belf... very nice, even if as a race they desperately need to eat a sammich. And gods I love the name too! (If your DK were undead I'd have to snerk and ask if you'd suffered a trauma from twice-baked potatoes as a child.)

Kevin actually does have a Horde t-shirt. Which he wears in public. Are you saying I married a geek? Oh, my...

Posted by Amy-Go at April 19, 2009 1:43 PM

She is a belf, racially speaking, but aren't all DKs technically (un)dead since they were part of the scourge army?

If you understood the above sentence, you are a geek. That is all.

Exactly my point! An undead DK is like a twice-baked potato. For some reason Hordies never seem to appreciate having that emoted at them... nor do Tauren seem to appreciate when my boomchicken smells BBQ as they clomp by. Maybe because I get PvP-fixated when I remember I'm supposed to cut back on red meat?

Ooh, steak and potatoes. NOM.

Speaking of gods, I'm reading it right now -when I'm not messing around on my computer. And speaking of waking the whole family with my riotous cackling....

Love the book - and the blog.

(1) I don't have an answer on double-take, but I've been in a similar situation recently--had cramps in both feet, and wasn't sure if I should be yelling, "Foot cramps!" or "Feet cramp!" or even "Feet cramps!" Unfortunately, my very knowledgeable sweetheart snorted at me, "You know that adverbs can never be pluralized." And he was unmoved by how cute "Feet cramp!" sounds. Stupid professors of writing....

(2) Pleather is my all-time favorite word! Thanks for blogging it. I will now go around the house chanting pleather-pleather-pleather-pleather until my teen children beat me over the head. (Gotta love family rituals!)

Heh I like those WoW commercials :) But I don't play :P

Posted by Heather at April 20, 2009 1:39 AM

Hahaha! I also get the same reactions whenever I mention WoW during a reunion (family/college) They can't believe that I'm still playing WoW despite my age. Hey, I'm only 25 what's wrong with that?

is this a flash-back or something from an alternate universe? last graf.... "and when the girl who stopped swimming launches at the end of may...." whoopsies!

Congrats, Sandi! You're going to love the book -- I just plowed through it over the weekend without coming up for air. My husband was laughing at me because I was taking the Kindle to the bathroom with me so I wouldn't have to stop reading.

My guess would be, this is the paperback launch of TGWSS, right?

Posted by Aimee at April 20, 2009 10:37 AM

Yes --- The paperback release is May 26 :)

My kids LOVE that Ozzy commercial. We're a WoW family. I have a zhevra because I got my kids an account :) Our guild has kids from about 9yrs old up through us "old" people.

And also, Penny Dreadful is the name of a demon in Terry Brook's Running with the Demon. perhaps one of my favorite characters in the series.

Vin Diesel plays Dungeons & Dragons, so I think you're okay. :)

Apropos to nothing in your blurb I have to tell you that as I was leaving work today I noticed an oral B toothbrush (in a limited edition) that made me think of you and in fact take it off the shelf and put it away to buy tomorrow.

Yes, it is a lovely 2 tomes orange that would look so beautiful in "The Good Cat" although that would probably not be the best place to use it.
here it is but this does not do it justice.
